Two minor siblings drowned in a pond in a village in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja district, police said on Saturday.
The bodies of Divya Tirki (8) and Sushila (7), residents of Diwaliya village in Udaipur area, were found floating in the pond on Friday, said police offi er Manoj Singh.
According to preliminary information, the two daughters of Bandhan Singh had gone to attend a wedding with their family on Thursday.
In the evening, the family members returned home but the two minors who accompanied them were found missing.
Initially, Singh thought his daughters might have gone to play along with other children. But when they did not reach home till night, a search was launched for them.
The next day, their bodies were found. It is believed that the sisters may have stopped at the pond for bathing and drowned, the officer said.
