Two hardcore Maoists who were members of Maoist lOS (local organizing squad) active in Kiskod area of the insurgency-hit Kondagaon district surrendered before the police here.They were involved in several serious Naxal incidents like murder, attacking police party, Superintendent of Police (SP), Kondagaon, JS Vatti informed on Wednesday.According to the police, the surrendered ultras were identified as Moti Ram (25) and Dinesh (23) hailing from Keshkal. They had joined Naxal cadre in 2010 and were involved in different Naxal incidents.
“The insurgents were part of Naxal team which had twice attacked police party in 2010. They also used to paste Naxal poster pamphlets, damage buildings and called villagers for meetings,” the SP said. After laying down arms they told police that they were disappointed with the discrimination meted out at the hands of higher cadre members hailing from Andhra Pradesh and also the hard life in jungle, Vatti said.Police was in touch with the ultras for a long time and finally persuaded them to leave the path of violence, he mentioned.
