At least five persons including two children below 13 years of age, have been killed when a rashly driven mini-bus hit on two bikes, where they were traveling in at Kurra village on Raipur-Gariaband road on Sunday.

The incident took place near a petrol pump about 1 km from Gobra Navapara police station, Station House Officer (SHO) Gobra Navapara Akik Khokhar said.

“A mini bus (CG-07 Cl-3400) of New Bus Service plying between Durg and Devbhog dashed the two motor bikes (CG-04 T-4083 and CG-05 N-0226) near the petrol pump. The bikers were moving towards Raipur from Rajim while the bus was coming from opposite direction,” said the SHO, and added that intensity of collision was so severe that both the bike got trapped in the bumper of bus and were dragged for some distance.

Immediately after the accident the bus driver and conductor ran away from the spot. The impact of dashing could be understood from the fact that bikes were converted into metal scraps and the bumper of bus was totally damaged. People in the bus took out the bodies, police said. Three persons were also injured in the accident who has been admitted in Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, police informed.

The deceased were identified as Ragini (3), Seema Sahu (14), Harish Sahu, Roshan Sahu and Seetaram Sonkar. Police has registered a case in this connection and are looking for the errant driver.
