'Tribal killed in Naxal Jan-Adalat had no police links'

SR

The Kondagon police on Monday rejected the claims that the person killed by Maoists in Usri village of the district had any link with the police. The deceased Singlu Korram was a villager who used to supply labourers for work with boring machines, SP Kondagaon Abhishek Meena said.

Notably, on July 13 last, insurgents had killed Singlu Korram at Usri village after branding him as police informer in a ‘Jan Adalat’.  A few days back, Meena said, Ramnath, president of Chote Usri Jantana Sarkar — an offshoot of banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) and member of Naxal local Operation Squad (lOS) active in the region was arrested during a search operation. Ramnath had demanded Rs 40,000 Korram which was turned down by the deceased. Aggrieved by the refusal, Ramnath had threatened Korram to be ready for facing dire consequences. After the arrest of Ramnat, a group of insurgents, including Raiju lohar, Kosa, lalsai and others called a Jan Adalat wherein Korram was branded as police informer and was murdered, the SP said.
