With the arrest of three persons, the Chhattisgarh Police on Saturday claimed to have busted a conspiracy to defame the government, the School Education Minister, his wife and an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) over corruption charges.
Talking to The Pioneer, Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal identified them as Gendram Chandrakar (64) and his accomplices Sanjay Singh Thakur (51) and Kapil Kumar Devdas (30), all residents of Raipur city.
Chandrakar is a retired Raipur District Education Officer while Thakur is the Secretary of the Homeopathic Medical College, where Devdas is a typist.
The Deputy Director, Directorate of Public Instruction, Ashutosh Chavre, lodged a case of cheating by impersonation and forgery.
Police learnt that Devdas had sent a fake letter through Speed Post making the corruption allegations against the Minister and others.
Police learnt that Devdas was in touch with the retired officer. School Education Department staffer Ajay Soni had also suspected Chandrakar’s involvement in the case.
Chandrakar confessed his involvement in the conspiracy. He also named Thakur and Devdas.
Chandrakr told the police that he gathered the order copies of the transfers and new postings of teachers from 2019 to the present and noted down order dates in two diaries.
Later, Thakur introduced him to Devdas for typing fake letters. They also made fake rubber stamps. Then they posted a fake letter to media houses, public representatives and bureaucrats.
Chandrakar told the police that he wanted to get a contractual appointment as Raipur DEO after retirement in January last year but it did not happen. He blamed the school department officers for this and decided to malgn them.
