The Chhattisgarh government has suspended three Forest Department employees for dereliction of duty.

The action came after a 35-year-old man was trampled to death by an elephant in the Pratappur Forest Range in Surajpur district on Tuesday night.

Those suspended on Wednesday were In-charge Ranger of Pratappur Forest Range Kamlesh Kumar Rai, Range Assistant Gulshan Yadav and Beat Guard Jitan Singh, an official communication said.

They were suspended for not addressing the issue of human-elephant conflict seriously to the villagers and failing to take coordinated steps to control it, the statement said.
