The basic teachings of Mahatma Gandhi will be included in the curriculum of Chhattisgarh schools from Class 5 to 12 to make children aware of the ideals and principles of the apostle of non-violence, the government said on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has called for inclusion of the aspect of development of self-reliance to help the students, an official communication said.
The children will also be told about Narva, Garuva, Ghuruwa and Bari in detail under the government's ambitious Suraji Gaon Yojana. It will be introduced to the children through a tour of villages.
This will enable the children to know about rural economy as well as topics like water and soil conservation as well as how a self-reliant village system works.
