'Swabhiman Manch has no impact in Durg'

Ruling out the role of Chhattisgarh Swabhiman Manch which is a local political outfit, All India Congress Committe (AICC) senior leader and treasurer Motilal Vora said on Sunday that the assembly poll battle in Durg City constituency is to be fought only between the BJP and the Congress.

“The contestant who will be by public’s side through every thick and thin will be brought to power,” he said. “The public is fed up of 10 years of inaction during the BJP’s rule and feels hopeless. The Darbha attack on May 25 had exposed the sorry state of law and order in Chhattisgarh,” Vora staed. He further stated, “Chhattisgarh Government only believes in promising and not delivering. It has misled the public. The Congress will form the Government in the State as well as at the Centre,”.

He said Chief Minister Raman Singh has admitted a massive lapse in the security arrangements in Jheeram ghati. “A Government that cannot protect its citizens does not deserve to be in power,” he said. Vora said that the ten years of BJP rule has been a series of failures. Centre allocated Rs 28,000 crore within five years to the Chhattisgarh Government but there is no trace of development. “Where did all the money goIJ This Government is corrupt.”

This year, the BJP neither has any ground neither policy. So, they have copied most of the schemes from the Congress’ election manifesto, like buying paddy for Rs 2,000 per quintal. Vora also accused the Raman Singh-led Government of being a well wisher of industrialist rather than of poor and farmers.
