Suspended Special DG Mukesh Gupta on Thursday reached Economic Offense Wing (EOW), where he was grilled for about five hours.
According to sources in the EOW, the temper of the former top cop appeared toned down this time and he cooperated with the investigating officers. Gupta’s statement was recorded for the second time.
Interestingly, Gupta’s advocate was not allowed to sit with him when he was questioned this time. During previous questioning, his advocate Amin Khan had accompanied him.
Sources reveled that though Gupta cooperated with the investigating officers, he did not provide satisfactory answers to most of the questions.
About 50 questions were asked to Gupta, sources said.
Notably, Gupta and IPS officer Rajnesh Singh were suspended for alleged illegal call recording made during the BJP regime in Chhattisgarh.
Rajnesh Singh who had earlier appeared before the EOW had stated that he was not involved in the call recording and it was all done at the behest of Mukesh Gupta.
Gupta later claimed that he had all required permissions for recording the calls.
