Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday stressed the need to step up the anti-Naxalite operation in the state by winning the trust of people in rural areas.
Baghel was addressing a meeting of the State Unified Command here in the presence of Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja and officials from the central security forces.
The meeting was told that due to three-dimensional Trust-Development-Security strategy of the Chhattisgarh government, incidents of Naxalite violence have fallen considerably.
Officials said that with coordination of Chhattisgarh Police and Central forces, anti-Naxalite operations are run in the affected areas and development works have been stepped up.
As security camps have been established in Naxalite hotbeds, even far-flung regions like Jagargunda, Kistaram, Bheji, Pamed, Basaguda, Tarrem are seeing construction of roads, bridges and schools. Electricity and PDS facilities are also easily available.
The State Highway 5, which joins Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Bastar and Dantewada districts, was again open. Core Naxalites areas are now connected with Sukma and Dantewada.
The meeting was urged to take up infrastructure development work on priority and to complete them in stipulated time frame.
Vigilance is also called for at the borders with Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha to prevent the entry of Naxalites from these states.
Emphasis was also laid on sharing intelligence with the neighbouring states.
