The race has already begun among the senior BJP leaders in Chhattisgarh to find a berth in Narendra Modi’s Union Cabinet. In the race are newly-elected lok Sabha MPs Ramesh Bais and Vishnudev Sai besides Rajya Sabha MP Nand Kumar Sai, BJP sources here informed.
Sources said that Bais is most likely to find a cabinet berth due to his earlier stint as a Union Minister in the NDA government. A large number of people and supporters in Raipur thronged the residence of Bais to congratulate him after the lok Sabha poll results were declared. Senior party leaders including Chief Minister Raman Singh also congratulated him on winning the election. Party insiders believe that apart from Bais, one more lok Sabha member from the State could also get a berth in the Union Cabinet.
Raigarh MP Vishnudev Sai who is also in the race has been elected to the lok Sabha for the fourth consecutive term while Rajya Sabha MP Nand Kumar Sai had served as the in- charge of the BJP’s party organisation in the erstwhile Madhya Pradesh State.
Nand Kumar Sai was also the leader of the Opposition after the formation of the State of Chhattisgarh. Besides he was also elected to lok Sabha from Surguja for one term.Apart from Bais, it could be either Vishnudev Sai or Nand Kumar Sai who might get a berth in the Union Cabinet as they belonged to tribal community, party insiders say.
