Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, Ajit Jogi on Thursday had a narrow escape as a stage he was sitting along with three Congress MlAs and the party’s office-bearers while leading a protest against KSK Mahanadi Power Plant in Akaltara collapsed.
However, some party workers who were standing near the stage sustained injuries in the incident and were taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.Soon after the stage collapsed possibly due to extra burden chaos prevailed at the venue.
The stage was temporarily erected for the senior party leaders but a ‘race’ was seen among the party workers to get onto the stage. Jogi had reached Akaltara to support the local residents for their demand including jobs in the plant and compensation amount.
