Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal said that a special Action Plan would be prepared for the promotion of agri-based industrial units in the State.

Chairing a marathon meeting of the senior Agriculture Department officials here, Agrawal said that the setting up of Agro Processing units would boost employment opportunities for the people of the State. This would also help the farmers to receive the right price for their produce. “The farmers of Chhattisgarh generally take only one crop for cultivation and they must be encouraged to take up 2 to 3  crops also for cultivation,” the Minister stated.

He said that in the new Agriculture policy, the promotion of cottage industry must be included. Agrawal said that rules must be formed in the policy to encourage the educated unemployed to set up Agri based units in the State. All the departments must work in an integrated manner to achieve holistic development of the Agriculture sector in the State, he said.
