Many sisters of males imprisoned in the Raipur Central Jail who had come to tie rakhi were not allowed to meet their brothers due to the Covid-19 pandemic on Monday.
Like every year on ‘Raksha Bandhan’, the sisters of the jail inmates arrived to tie rakhi. The jail authorities generally make arrangements for it. But this year, as some prisoners had tested positive for Covid-19, the officials had made arrangements for online-interaction with the inmates.
But unaware of the arrangement, many women reached the jail from far-flung areas to meet their brothers. But the main gate was closed and they were denied entry. According to jail authorities, they took the ‘rakhi’ in envelopes and the sweets to be handed over to the prisoners.
