Criticising the claim of Bharatiya Janata Party led Raman Singh Government in the State for attributing development, Indian National Congress’s senior leader and noted advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi had charged that the government had failed to curb the poverty in state. Nearly half of the population of state lives Below Poverty Line (BPL), he said.
Singhvi while addressing a press conference here at Rajiv Bhawan on Sunday afternoon said the drastic jump in the BPL families in the state exposes the claim of BJP of development of the state in past 15 years. He citing the numbers of Jan Dhan Accounts opened in the state charged that the poverty level which was 37% at the time of inception of the state had now jumped to 42%. This drastic increase in the poverty level testifies that the BJP government in state had failed in developmental front, he said.
Singhvi also charged that BJP National President Amit Shah and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh due to affection towards their sons have given undue favour to their businesses. It is unbelievable to see what magical wand they have which gave given quantum jump to the businesses of their sons, he said.
Commenting on visit of Shah to the state, Singhvi said the company of his son, wife and daughter-in-law, Temple Enterprises, recorded growth of 16000 times in just a period of 3 years. This is testimonial that BJP has no concern over uplift of poor and downtrodden but is concerned over development of their own kiths and kin, he blamed.
