A day before Governor Anusuiya Uikey’s visit to village Supebeda in Gariyaband district, state health minister TS Singhdeo claimed that his department was taking elaborate measures to provide better treatment for people suffering with CKD (chronic kidney disease) in the village.
He informed that he would accompany the Governor to Supebeda on Tuesday.
Singhdeo while talking to media persons here on Monday accepted that the exact reason causing CKD in Supebeda is yet to be identified.
“According to experts there are four reasons causing CKD, first is the genetic factor, second water, then diseases like diabetes and malaria and CKDU (chronic kidney disease) which are being seriously investigated,” he said while adding across India about 12 to 18 per cent deaths are reported due to renal issues.
“Our intent is to improve the life span of people in Supebeda and neighbouring regions,” he said.
Singhdeo was accompanied by a team of doctors from AIIMS, his political advisors and party members.
Elaborating about a slew of measures taken by his department in Supebeda, he said two medical mobile units have been deployed in village, regular blood sampling will be done, medicines being provided to villagers will be also reviewed.
“When we talked to the residents of Supebeda they demanded a bridge on Tel River as they felt little unconnected with the state. Accordingly, a bridge of Rs 10 crore was sanctioned. Water purification systems and intake well at Tel river will be also constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore soon,” he said.
He accepted that at the dialysis unit installed in Devbhog, no dialysis was happening and that the department had appointed a doctor for the purpose.
Singhdeo said AIIMS has agreed to work over the issue and specialist from AIIMS, Raipur had visited Supebeda.
To a query about expected time to solve this chronic problem, Singhdeo said that CKD develops over a long period of time and hence will take time to stop it.
