Raking up the issue of cartoons on journalists put in social media, leader of Opposition TS Singhdeo wrote a letter to Chief Minister Raman Singh and demanded investigation into the issue.
Singhdeo, while condemning the act said that the cartoons being circulated on social media must be stopped and strict action should be taken against persons behind the act.
“I have come to know that journalists are staging protests in democratic way peacefully at different parts of the State. In this regard, some people are flaring up the objectionable materials on social media that portrays media personnel as Naxal sympathisers,” he said.
This is an objectionable act and cannot be accepted, Singhdeo said adding this act could hurt public sentiments and also have negative impact on the freedom of press which is also the fourth pillar of democracy.
Notably, a few days back some cartoons were circulated in the social media that portrayed journalists as Naxal supporters and champion of the Maoist cause.
