The district food controller has warned four shops, which were protesting core PDS scheme, of ceasing supply of foodgrain.

Under the core PDS scheme ration shops of the city have been made online in the first phase. The scheme will be started in the entire district later. According to sources, Prathamik Aadarsh Samiti, Indira Jyoti Samooh and Sahkari Vipnan Samiti protested implementation of the scheme. Earlier, the district food controller had advised these shops and later warned them of ceasing foodgrain distribution.

District food controller Vishwanath Netam said that consumption of ration could be shown on uploading data on computer only, otherwise, it would be difficult to keep record of distributed foodgrain. As such, it is necessary to make all ration shops online and computerised. Even after sufficient training and awareness, four committees have been protesting it, which was not genuine, he added.

People have welcomed the core PDS, but some self-help groups were pretest it that they have problems in maintaining records after sale of ration.
