Shiksha Karmis began their State-wide agitation on Tuesday on Teachers Day and named it as ‘Shikshak Kranti Diwas’. They sat on dharna near Budha Talab and later also handed over a memorandum to District Collector.
The demonstration was also done at all the 27 district headquarters of the State.
Under banner of Chhattisgarh Panchayat Nagariya Nikay Sangh, the Shiksha Karmis were on protest in support of their nine point charter of demands.
The main objection of Shiksha Karmis was that they were working under the same school with government teachers but were not getting the desired honour of teacher from the School Education Department.
The main demand of them was for the “same work same pay”, as per 7th pay commission by giving senior scale by declaring them government employee.
They also demanded training for untrained teachers, paying them as per revised pay scale and making them regularised in their service.
The other demands of them include promoting them to the posts of Principals and Head Masters as per the decision taken in the State Cabinet, formulation of open transfer policy as was for the Government teachers among others.
