The Rolling mills situated near Ring Road inside the city limits will be shifted away from the city. A decision to this effect was taken by Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Munat in a meeting held here on Friday.

In the meeting with senior officers of the Department, Munat said that the Rolling mills within the city limits are adding to the pollution of the city and effective steps should be taken to shift them outside.

He instructed the officials to provide land to these Rolling mills outside the city within a year and shift them.

Munat said that water treatment plant should be made mandatory for the residential colonies which have been developed in more than five acres of land. “There is a provision in the Housing Act for water treatment plant and it should be implemented strictly,” said Munat adding officers to take immediate steps in this regard.

He also asked the officers to collect information about disposal of fly-ash by the industrial units.

The Minister instructed the officials not to renew the license of those industrial units which do not dispose off fly-ash as per norms and rules.

He instructed the officers to install boards displaying pollution level in Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh and Korba districts.

A proposal for Eco Park in Naya Raipur was also approved in the meeting.

He also emphasized on development of housing colonies jointly by NRDA and RDA.
