Bhartiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah landed in Raipur on Thursday amid unprecedented welcome by party cadres and he spent the Day-one of his three day planned trip to Chhattisgarh holding parleys with State unit office-bearers in a bid to draft a blueprint for party’s record 4th term in the mineral-rich State.
Hundreds of BJP cadres jostled at Raipur airport at around 8.30 in morning to receive their party chief who was flanked by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, party national general secretary Saroj Pandey who belongs to Chhattisgarh, BJP State unit chief Dharamlal Kaushik and Ramvichar Netam, the former Chhattisgarh Minister who is now chief of party’s national tribal cell.
Shah was taken directly to party State headquarters from airport amid much fanfare as BJYM cadres took out an impressive bike rally.
Shah held a lengthy interaction with state unit Core Group members, state unit office-bearers, party MPs and MlAs, district and block units chiefs and heads of Boards and Corporation in an attempt to collect feedback about state government’s reputation at ground level.
Sources said that Shah advised state party leadership to strengthen coordination between the party and the State Government. He also insisted on recruiting booth level cadres with focus on youths.
Shah spent hectic day in Chhattisgarh on Thursday and called upon party cadres to start preparations for the record fourth term for the party Government in Chhattisgarh. The BJP is in power in the State since November 2003.
Chhattisgarh will go to polls for its 90-member assembly seats in late 2018 and political analysts say that BJP is the strong favourites for the fourth straight term as the opposition Congress faces issues as well as leadership crisis.
