Chief Minister Raman Singh has wished the school students who are entering the new academic year starting Tuesday planned to be celebrated as 'Shaala Pravesh Utsav' ( School Admission Festival). The first day in school is a memorable and a historic day in the life of every individual. The memories of school days are imprinted in the minds of all citizens. The children are the future citizens of the nation and school days lay the foundation of future generations, he said.

Singh said that the aim of Chhattisgarh Government is total enrollment of children in the age-group of six to 14 years in schools. 'Shaala  Pravesh Utsav' will be celebrated from June 16 to 30 in the entire State. It is an important step for the coming generations, he said. The Chief Minister called upon the citizens to cooperate and make the programme a huge success.

The newly-enrolled school children should be welcomed with ' Tilak-Aarti' and they should be provided with sweets, Singh said. He called upon the people's representatives to participate in the Utsav. The Chief Minister sent letters to lok Sabha MPs, Rajya  Sabha MPs, MlAs, Zila  Panchayat Chairpersons, Janpad Panchayat Presidents, Municipal Corporation Mayors, Nagar Palika and Nagar Panchayat Presidents to encourage the children.

Singh said that it is the moral and social responsibility of all concerned citizens to see that children in the age-group of 6 to 14 years are admitted to schools. It is the birth right of all children to be admitted to schools. The new academic session starts on June 16 as was done last year. The monsoon heralds the new academic year. Efforts should be made that there is cent per cent enrollment in schools and drop-outs also should be encouraged to rejoin schools, he said.

Singh said all concerned people should participate in the 'Shaala Pravesh Utsav'. Referring to the 'Swachch Bharat-Swachch Vidyalaya' and 'Beti Bachao-Beti Padao' programme of  Prime Minister Narendra Modi ,  he said that schools are meant for the development of whole personality of the child. It is not the responsibility of one Department or one section of the society.  Singh hoped that everybody will be a part of the Utsav and make it a success.
