Separate cell to monitor Amrut Yojana

Staff Reporter

A separate State-level cell to be set up soon will monitor the implementation of Chief Minister Amrut Yojana, a senior Government official said on Saturday.

The cell will closely observe the work at the field-level and at the village-level. The decision to set up a separate cell was taken during a State-level Review Committee meeting presided over by Secretary Sonmani Bora of the Women and Child Development Department at Mantralaya

Bora urged the officials to observe the guidelines regarding the production, packing, transportation, storage and distribution of flavoured milk. The entire process should be closely monitored by department officials. The milk packs should not be tampered with, swollen and with no leakages. The children should be fed with sweetened milk after breakfast only.  The severely malnourished and sick children should be provided with flavoured milk after consultations with medical experts. The Anganwadi workers should first taste the quality and safety of milk and then proceed to provide it to children.

Bora added that Women and Child Development Department officials should make the Amrut Yojana successful by taking the suggestions of district and Developmental blocks-level experts and implement them.

Divisional Commissioners, Collectors, Chief Executive Officers Zilla Panchayat, Chief Medical and Health Officers, Block Health officers, Child Specialists and others should form a team of experts and visit the Anganwadis.

There are about 50 thousand Anganwadis and mini-Anganwadi centers in the State. Circulars and directives have been issued to the District Collectors, District Programme Officers and District Women and Child Development Department officers to follow the procedures strictly. A team of senior officers will visit the Anganwadi centers on every Monday and submit a report on the Amrut Yojana.
