nSecurity forces have destroyed seven Maoist hideouts in Abujhmaad region in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division, police said on Thursday.

“In the last three days, seven Naxalite hideouts were demolished,” Inspector General of Police (Bastar) Sundarraj P said.

He said the District Reserve Group (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Border Security Force (BSF) launched operation ‘Sangam’ on the tri-junction of Narayanpur, Kanker and Gadchiroli districts near the Maharashtra border.

Huge quantities of arms, ammunition, camping materials and medicines were recovered from the hideouts.

These hideouts are suspected to have been occupied by senior cadres of the North Bastar and Maad Division of DKSZC (Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee), said the officer.

Although one DRG jawan was killed and another injured in the action, the security forces are believed to have inflicted serious losses to the Naxalites in the unexplored terrains of Abhujamad, he said.
