To maintain law and order and to ensure safety of visitors on the occasion of ‘Bhitar Raini’ ritual, the city police beefed up security with dog squads and bomb disposal team conducting searches at several points Tuesday. During the drive, places of Bastar lokotsav and Disney land were also checked.
Notably, on the occasion of ‘Bhitar Raini, ritual of Dussehra large number of villagers and outsiders turn up often leading to some unusual situations for the police. To avoid any such situation, the police conducted extensive searches at more than a dozen places including Bastar lokotsav, Disney land, Maa danteshwari Temple, Dussehra Venue, Nagar Gudi etc. Assistant Superintendent of Bastar police S R Salam said that the police drive was intended to make the security arrangements foolproof as large number of domestic as well as foreign tourists turn up to see Bastar Dussehra.
According to him, About a dozen of DSPs and Thana In-charges, Inspectors have been assigned the task of maintaining security of this occasion. Officials have been given strict instructions to ensure that visitors won’t have any difficulty for that in addition to regular forces, 500 extra Jawans have been deployed at different locations as also night patrolling has been intensified. At over two dozen vulnerable points police Jawans will conduct patrolling throughout night, he added.
