nState Election Commission (SEC), Chhattisgarh has issued the electoral roll revision process schedule ahead of the upcoming elections for civic bodies and three-tier Panchayats.

According to SEC Deputy secretary S. R. Bandhe, summary revision of electoral roll has been issued under ‘Jaagav Botar’ (Stay Alert Voter) to spread the message among the electors. Information regarding the electoral roll will be given in all meetings and programmes of civic bodies and three-tier panchayat.

He added that electors can add, delete or rectify their names in the electoral roll. Intimation of  summary revision should be given in higher secondary schools, colleges, university so that the new voters can add their names, he added.

Bandhe said the electoral roll prepared by the Election Commission of India for the state assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be the base of electoral roll for local body elections. The difference is in local election the electoral roll is prepared ward/village wise so elector has to ensure his/her name is in his/her own ward/village.

Due to clerical mistake or computer error, elector’s name may get registered in another ward/village. In such a case intimation can be given to co-certification registration officer or assistant registration     officer.

The new elector should attain 18 years of age on January 1, 2019 for enrolment.  The primary publication of electoral roll will be done on September 6, after which     electors can check their names in electoral roll.
