Samples of soft drinks collected

Staff Reporter

Samples of major soft drink brands were collected from Shri Krishna Sales, Telibandha on Tuesday by two food safety officers of District Food Department for suspected adulteration. The test reports are expected to arrive after a period of 14 days.

The consumption of soft drinks goes up around New Year and chances of adulteration increase as suppliers struggle to meet the high demand.

“We seized samples of Thumbs up and Coke on Monday. It is a part of our routine exercise but we are more alert during the New Year,” Said Dr Ashwani Dewangan, District Food Safety Officer.

Dewangan, along with a Sampling officer, collected samples of Pepsi and Miranda from Shri Krishna Sales in Telibandha. The operation took more than 2 hours.
