On the occasion of World Tribal Day (Vishwa Adiwasi Diwas) different organisations of Tribal community organised a large meeting in capital on Friday to display their strength. In the meeting leaders of the Samaj called on tribal people to remain united for availing the maximum benefits of schemes being implemented for their welfare. In the meeting dozens of senior Tribal leaders including Rajya Sabha member Nand Kumar Sai participated.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Sai lamented that presently people of Bastar are fighting struggle for their existence, they are being robbed of all their belongings, he said and added that without taking them in to confidence solution to the raging Maoist insurgency problem was not possible. Announcements are made for setting up big colleges and universities for education of Tribals but no primary and middle schools are in sight. For implementation of provisions made in the Constitution for Tribal people unity among tribal sections was must, he added.
Sai said that none of the Tribal people was Naxal and only by taking advantage of their helplessness, guns have been put in their hands. Real insurgents are those who are supplying arms and ammunition as well as explosives to Bastar and are indulging in extortion of donations. The day Bastar people are taken in to confidence, there would be no insurgency in Bastar, he added. Sai also take a dig on those tribal leaders who avoided their presence.
Special guest of this occasion V Khakha warned that formation of smaller states would weaken the power of the Tribal section. On the other hand Elecricity Regulatory Commission chairman Narayan Singh opined that unless a community analyses its weaknesses and shortfalls it can not raise its level in the society. Adiwasi samaj too should focus on education level of its children and opt professional courses like medical, engineering.
Former chairman of Public Service Commission B l Thakur said there was need to adopt positive approach instead of having negative thinking for the development of the society.
