The failure of 69 from a total of 100 students appeared in the 2012-13 Bachelor of Education examination has triggered a controversy in Chhattisgarh with affected students demanding a probe into the re-valuation.

The students of Dr Rajendra Prasad College in Bhilai on Tuesday said the 69 students who were declared unsuccessful allegedly could not secure pass mark on the subject ‘role of teachers in the modern India society’. They said the failed students had appealed for a re-valuation. But after revaluation the authorities have only declared three of them successful. As a result the futures of the remaining students are at stake, they said.

College principal AK Sharma said he had taken up the matter with the vice chancellor of the university. The failed students also had joined with him. He said necessary steps would be taken to ensure that nobody is denied of justice. Although the revaluation report has yet to reach the college, he came to know that only three students have been declared qualified.

Sharma said he was also surprised over the failure of such a large number of students in one subject. He said efforts would be made to check all the answer papers of the students at the university.
