SR

A row has erupted over the voter list prepared by the administration for Raipur rural Assembly constituency. The Bharatiya Janata Party  pointed out irregularities and moved the election commission, while the opposition Congress dubbed it as a drama.

A delegation of BJD moved the commission alleging irregularities in the enlistment of at Ashoka Ratna residential apartment. They complained that many of the names find place in the list were fake.

State Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla on Wednesday said by admitting the irregularity, the Bharatiya Janata Party has conceded that it lost the seat before the election. It was trying to explain beforehand that if it loses the seat, it can blame the administration.

The owner of the apartment is a Bharatiya Janata Party leader. He was also an office bearer of the ruling party in the past. He has full control over the apartment, he said.

Similarly the voters list was prepared when the code of conduct was not in force. It was the administration which prepared the list. The administration was working under the Bharatiya Janata Party Government, he pointed out. It was a well planned tactic of the ruling party. Anticipating defeat, they are trying to build pressure on the officials and making such false allegations, he said.
