Acting against alleged illegal construction, the Public Investment Department of Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) has started demolition of a building located in Davendra Nagar, officials informed on Wednesday. According to officials, the step was taken after three notices slapped on the building owners went unreplied and construction was carried on against the law.
The RMC had given approval for construction of two separate buildings in Sector 32 to Madan lodha and his wife Aasha Devi lodha. However instead of two, one building was constructed at the site, a RMC press release issued here on Wednesday stated. RMC’s City Investor MN Thakur informed in the press release that the first notice to lodha couple was served on October 30, 2012. However, they did not stop the work. The second notice was sent on November 23, 2012 asking them to present them in RMC, which was also overlooked. There was no reply on third notice as well which was released on March 13, 2014.
Meanwhile, various serious irregularities were observed in the construction of building. The set back which was 9 meter in front of building was left 5 meter only. Similarly in rear part of building the set back decided as 3 meter was found to be 1.5 meter only, the press release stated. On directives of RMC Commissioner, the demolition of building has been started from 6th floor, they said.
