The election of Speaker for the newly-elected body of Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) that was scheduled on January 15 has been rescheduled on January 19, officers informed on Monday. District Collector Thakur Ram Singh has released an order in connection with under Section 18 (1) of Raipur Municipal Corporation Act 1956 and Section 403 (3) of Appeal Committee Chhattisgarh Municipal Corporation Act 1956. Apart from the election of the Speaker, the Appeal Committee will also be elected during the meeting on January 19.
According to new schedule, nominations to be filed for the post of RMC Speaker between 10 am and 11 am followed by scrutiny of the nomination will be done between 11 am and 11.15 am and withdrawal of nominations will be done between 11.15 am and 11.30 am. Voting will start at 12 o’clock and would end at 12.45 pm. At 1 pm, counting of votes and results will be declared then after.
Officials further informed that nominations for the Appeal Committee elections will be received from 1.30 pm to 2 pm followed by scrutiny, withdrawal. Voting will be taken place from 3 pm to 3.30 pm. Counting will start at 3.30 pm followed by the results.
