Raipur Municipal Corporation Mayor and Congress corporators’ skipped the general body meeting for the second day on Wednesday, due to which no discussion on the budget, which was tabled, could take place.
Earlier on Tuesday, BJP corporator Manoj Prajapati was suspended for throwing mucks, which he had brought from a drain, inside the meeting hall. The Congress corporator Ejaz Debhar was also suspended for being abusive towards the chair.
According to the proceedings, after the general body began, Mayor Pramod Dubey and Members in Council from the Congress did not arrive to participate. The opposition BJP corporators were present.
The session was adjourned for half-an-hour in anticipation of arrival of Mayor and Congress corporators. But as they did not turn up the chair directed the finance department officials to table the budget. The budget booklet was tabled and distributed among the corproators present. The Leader of the Opposition then sought discussion on the budget but as Mayor and Corporators were not present, no discussion was held. Meanwhile, the other points of agenda was read out and based on the suggestions from members present, decisions were taken on them.
