Even after getting relief from floods in the Mahanadi river, about 14 villages of the district are yet to see power supply restored.
A number of transformers besides other equipment have been damaged due to floods while electricity meters in an estimated 2,000 houses and 300 poles have been damaged by the flood water, reports reaching here informed.However, the official sources said that it will take a while to restore power supply in all the villages.
According to information available, flood water has entered about 64 villages coming under various power distribution centers.Flood has played havoc even for the power companies as basic infrastructure like poles and transformers have been damaged at several places, it was learnt.Due to power outage, the water pumps could not be operated and thus water supply could not be restored in many areas.
