Bharatiya Janata Party National general secretary and in-charge of Chhattisgarh, JP Nadda on Sunday said that Union Minister Jairam Ramesh has only ‘superficial understanding’ of insurgency problem in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh.
“Mr Jairam Ramesh has this knack of travelling in the insurgency-ridden regions of Chhattisgarh where he had been saying earlier that misguided youth take to insurgency,” he said in a Press conference here. He further stated: “After the Jeeram Ghati masscare by Maoists, the Union Minister started saying that they (Maoists) are worse than the terrorists. Has he (Jairam Ramesh) gone to Jeeram Ghati after the May 25 massacreIJ” Nadda asked.
“Jairam had toured Bastar region only to promote AICC president Sonia Gandhi’s public meetings,” he said. Nadda said that only Raman Singh Government is clear on tackling insurgency. “Where is the Action Plan of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on tackling insurgencyIJ” Nadda asked. Speaking at the news conference, BJP National general secretary and MP Dharmendra Pradhan said that the Congress had not been able to deal with Naxalism due to internal bickering in the party.
He alleged that the BJP has also raised objections over Congress party levelling false charges against BJP candidate from Marwahi Assembly seat Sameera Paikra who is a tribal contesting against former Chief Minister and Senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi’s son Amit Jogi. Pradhan said that the Congress is also not declaring its Chief Ministerial candidate for Chhattisgarh by stating that the decision would be taken by AICC President Sonia Gandhi.
