Terming the Congress party’s slogan “activeness vs inactiveness in Raipur lok Sabha seat” as an insult to the electorate, the BJP State vice-president and spokesperson Sachchidanand Upasane said that if its candidate Ramesh Bais was inactive how had the voters elected him MP six times from Raipur.
Upasane in a statement issued here said that the Congress had neglected Chhattisgarh for 50 years and on getting votes from here, they had accumulated political benefits in Delhi and Bhopal and kept Chhattisgarh out of the development map of the country. He said that development in the State started only when Ramesh Bais urged Atal Bihari Vajpayee and formed Chhattisgarh State, otherwise, it would have been a neglected, victimized and backward State.
Upasane asked the Congress whether the formation of Chhattisgarh State, establishment of AIIMS, NIT, Railway Zone, extension of railway station, construction of international stadium and international aerodrome are its gifts to the State. He asked the Congress “what is activeness without development. Whether the Congress considers scams, inflation and corruption as activeness. Providing basic facilities to people, regional development are not coming under the category of activeness.”
After the country’s Independence, the Congress kept the people of Chhattisgarh as its vote bank. It has made false promises and declarations in the election, Upasane said. He said that it was exemplary that during his 40-year political journey, not a single allegation has been made on its MP Ramesh Bais. Upasane said that the electorates of Raipur lS constituency would express trust in the BJP and Ramesh Bais for the 7th time also for the protection of democracy in the country and development of Chhattisgarh.
