Raman serves notice to Raj Babbar

Staff Reporter

Chief Minister Raman Singh has sent a notice to Congress leader and film actor Raj Babbar for his comments on him.

Raj Babbar had allegedly termed the Chief Minister as a fake doctor while addressing a public meeting on November 14. The BJP law cell chairman and senior lawyer Naresh Gupta has sent the notice to the Congress leader on behalf of the Chief Minister, sources said.

The notice has asked Raj Babbar to tender unconditional apology within next 15 days. If he fails to do so, it threatened to file a defamation suit against him.

Raj Babbar was in the State to address public meetings in different place as part of his party’s campaign for the Assembly election. The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, meanwhile, strongly criticised Raj Babbar for his comment and said the film actor needs treatment.

Chhattisgarh BJP chief Ramsevak Paikra said by making such derogatory and insulting remark, Raj Babbar has proved that he and his party men have a sick mindset. In the Congress, nothing has left except loot, falsehoods, disrespect and the statements of its leaders were only reflecting that, he said.

Perhaps the local Congressmen did not tell him (Raj Babbar) that Raman Singh is a doctor of poor and downtrodden. The Congress always snatches foods from the mouths of the poor while Raman Singh has always thought for the poor.

He not only implemented the public distribution system successfully but also its own food security law for the first time in the country and has been providing grains to the most needy, the State BJP chief said.

Raj Babbar who made a joke by saying that one can get a full meal by spending only Rs 12 does not know that Raman Singh has provided treatment to the problems of unemployment, poverty and migration, he added.

Saying that Singh has been addressing all the problems created by Congress, Paikra said Raj Babbar should get himself treated in any mental asylum if he wants.

The people of Chhattisgarh will teach the Congress a lesson for bringing such immoral people to the state and attempting to distort and tranquility, he added.
