Raipur's Aishwarya sings title track of 'Kutumb' with Kumar Sanu

Sumedha Chaudhury

Raipur City’s 20-year-old Singer Aishwarya Pandit who recently qualified for the semi-final of ‘India’s Got Talent Season 7’ has sung the title track of the upcoming Bollywood movie ‘Kutumb’ with Kumar Sanu. The song is scheduled for release next month.

In an exclusive interview with The Pioneer, she shared her feelings about the music field she is associated with since her childhood days. Excerpts:

Tell us about the duet song sung with veteran singer Kumar Sanu.

Before being selected for India’s Got Talent, I was recommended by Shyam Avtar Kedia during a concert for this title track. It was truly a dream come true in the Bollywood.  A song recorded on Sai Baba is also in pipeline by a Private Music Company.

What about your practice for the India’s Got Talent Semi-Final showIJ

It is not a singing competition. The challenge is tough as talents across the globe like magicians, music bands and dancers are my competitors. I am focussing on versatility preparing songs from western, sufi, classic and Arabic genres. Also, I am avoiding cold drinks and focussing less on social media.

What about your family supportIJ

I belong to a music family. Since the age of six years, I have been observing my mother Rinki Pandit practicing under the supervision of my grandfather Pandit Sampat lal, a known Tabla player. She is my inspiration. Moreover, my father Satish Pandit and elder brother Siddharth Pandit are Body Builder trainers who despite the different field give me full attention. Even my National Recurve Archer younger brother Rajiv Pandit is an all-time supporter.

If you bag the ‘India’s Got Talent’ award, what would be your first priorityIJ

Talents from small towns hardly get a proper platform like Raipur. I want to promote such talents of my hometown if I achieve that golden recognition.

What is your ambitionIJ

I want to become a Playback Singer like lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Shreya Ghoshal.

What about studiesIJ

I am presently pursuing final year under graduation in Music. The subject was chosen as I cannot devote my mind on any other field apart from music.

Would you like to share any special moment of the India’s Got TalentIJ

Yes, it was the time when Judges asked me about my Mentor. I pointed out to my mother. We were asked to sing a song together on the stage. It was lata Mangeshkar’s lag Jaa Gale song. There was pin drop silence while we performed. Judge Karan Johar said it is his favourite song and the most romantic song on this earth.
