Rahul to attend Jagdalpur public meet

Staff Reporter

Vice President of All India Congress Committee Rahul Gandhi will be the chief guest of the mammoth Adiwasi Sammelan being organised by the party at Jagdalpur at 11 am on September 26.

The meeting is intended to make the Tribal section aware of State Government’s failure to provide security to people in the State leading to May 25 Jeeram Valley Maoist attack in which 30 people including top party leadership of Chhattisgarh were wiped out, besides its apathetic and negligent attitude towards tribal masses, of which Jhaliamari Ashram rape and repeated lathi charge on Adiwasis have been the crucial example.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee programme coordinator Bhupesh Baghel while confirming the participation of Rahul Gandhi in Jagdalpur meeting, said that organisation of Scheduled Caste people meet at Ahiwara, teachers felicitation programme and public meeting at Patan, massive Kisan Sammelan at Abhanpur and now the proposed Tribals’ meet at Jagdalpur have been the part of CGPCC President Charandas Mahant’s ‘Congress lao, Chhattisgarh Bachao’ Abhiyan, which has been launched in consultation with Rahul Gandhi with a view to expose the misdeeds of the BJP Government.

According to Baghel, the party will now focus on taking the welfare schemes of the Union Government to every door of the people besides making them aware of their rights.
