Rahul holds roadshow to revive Cong in C'garh

Desperate to end its isolation in Chhattisgarh where the party is out of power for 15 years, Congress president Rahul Gandhi staged a 50-km long roadshow on Friday evening to inspire party workers to take on the BJP in the Assembly polls expected to be held later this year.

Gandhi, accompanied by PCC chief Bhupesh Baghel, began his much publicised roadshow from Gandhi Chowk in Durg which passed through Bhilai-3, Charauda and Kumhari before making its way into the State Capital where hundreds of Congress workers were seen jostling to shake hands with the party president.

The roadshow threw traffic out of gear at evening rush hours in Raipur where Gandhi waved at men and women who waited for him for hours at roadsides to have a glance of the Congress chief.

At some of the places, Rahul briefly descended from his vehicle to interact with party workers as well as with the common people.

The roadshow culminated at Swami Vivekanand airport, Raipur, from where the AICC Chief boarded a flight for New Delhi.
