Hundreds of workers of the public works department on Thursday staged demonstration in civil lines in Raipur seeking regularisation of their jobs.
The workers said they had been working with the department for the past 15 years but were still be regularised. If the Government does not address our grievances, we will be forced to cease all our works, a protesters said.
According to them, the Government asked the concerned department to furnish detail of the workers.
Although required information was sent by division no 2, 3 and 4, it was a matter of surprise that the division No 1 has not supplied any information yet, they said.
Mohan Tandi, a protesting worker said like him hundreds others regularly receive payment on muster roll, but when they were asking the authorities for regularisation of jobs, they paid little heed. Instead the officials were citing them as temporary workers, he said.
