The installed power generation capacity of the State-owned power companies has jumped from 2424.70 MW to 2927.70 MW which includes 500 MW of commercial power produced from Madwa Project in Janjgir-Champa district, officials said here on Monday.

Notably, Chhattisgarh is set to retain the 'power surplus' tag for another 4 to 5 years as the State Government along with the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company ltd (CSPDCl) has inked long-term MoUs with several power producers, they stated.

"With power generation contributions from Central sector, private producers and renewable energy sector, Chhattisgarh will have power supply availability of about 3656 MW during the coming three years," CSPDCl  Managing Director Ankit Anand said.

While maintaining the status of 'zero power cut State', the highest power demand in Chhattisgarh has been registered at 4000 MW while the power production from various sources here has been 4612 MW, he informed.

"NTPC plants generate 1026 MW, NSPCl gives 50 MW, renewable energy sources contribute 271 MW, Nuclear Power Corporation provides 48 MW while private power producers add 292 MW electricity in State's power kitty," the MD said.

Referring to Plant load Factor (PlF) of different power plants in Chhattisgarh, he said that on an average, most of the units have completed 50 years of their establishment. However, their PlF has been registered at 76 per cent, he said, adding that that is more than the national average.
