Amid rising numbers of Covid-19 infections in Chhattisgarh, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu on Sunday asked senior officials to ensure the safety of police personnel and their families.
Sahu issued the instructions to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Subrat Sahoo, a government statement said.
The Minister said that policemen and officers face the public as frontline warriors and so their safety should be given due priority.
He told Sahoo to provide all necessary equipment, medicines, masks, sanitizers and more to the police personnel so that they do not get infected.
The Minister also expressed concern over possible outbreak of Covid infection in jails. He called for major preventive measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the prisons.
He underlined that police personnel, their families and workers in prisons should be protected from Covid-19 infection.
Before entering a jail, the health check-up of the prisoners and officers will be mandatory, he said.
