leader of Congress legislative Party (ClP) TS Singhdeo alleged that the State Government has discontinued power supply in 25 to 30 villages of Prem Nagar and Udaypur block in Surguja district. “It is not correct to force thousands of people in 25 to 30 villages to live in darkness due to default of some people in payment of bills,” Singhdeo said in a statement here on Monday. Presently exams are going on in schools and colleges and famers are also engaged in cultivation work. Under these circumstances, cutting power connection will have grave impact on the people and hence on future of students. The daily farming works are also badly hit by power cut, he said.
life in villages had been crippled. Due to power shortage, availability of potable water has also decreased thereby giving space for health problems, he added. “Several big industries, business houses and shopping malls have not paid their power bills running in crores of rupees for years. The Energy Department has failed to make recovery in these cases, however, when it comes to villages, connections are promptly disconnected,” Singhdeo alleged. He further questioned as to why was CSPDCl adopting dual standard and was not treating equally. Due to non payment of electricity dues by some people cutting power supply of entire village is unjustified and we oppose it. We would question government in upcoming Assembly session, he said.
