Chhattisgarh State Power Company is working on war footing for maintenance and system improvement across the state for strengthening the whole supply system ahead of monsoon.
Employees are working round the clock in adverse condition to avoid supply disruption in torrential rains and in cyclonic-like situation, chairman of the company Shailendra Shukla said in a press release. The pre-monsoon preparation will be helpful in reducing electrical tragedies, he added.
He further added that to work in blistering heat and hot wave is no less than a Himalayan task. “Hats off to their (employees) committed works and dedication to illuminate the houses of the people,” the chairman said lauding the efforts of his employees.
Under the operation and maintenance works employees are changing the old transformers, check the damage line and poles, cut the branches of trees etc. so that power supply could be maintained in all situations.
The target is to finish the pre-monsoon work within the first fortnight of June.
As it’s not advisable to work on running lines, consumers supply is disconnected for maintenance of lines and for changing other depending equipment after giving prior information to the consumers.
“It is needless to mention that employees face more trouble than the consumers to work in scorching heat. At present employees are trying their best for restoration of supply as quickly as possible,” Shukla said. He has humbly requested all sections of the society to cooperate with the department in adverse conditions. “It will boost the morale of the employees. Sometimes they may fail, but it should be remembered that the employees are also common man and part and parcel of the society,” Shukla said.
