Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company conducted a mock drill to counter any black out within 20 minutes in case of any problem in Korba-based Thermal Power Plants.
The power can be restored through the hydel power projects. The drill was conducted at Load Dispatch Centre, Dangania in presence of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies chairman Shailendra Kumar Shukla and Transmission Company Managing Director Tripthi Sinha.
During the drill, within 20 minutes the power restoration was done from Bango based hydel power plant. It is a part of the directive to conduct mock drill under Indian Electricity Grid Code and State Grid Code.
Before going for mock drill, for Bango Hydel Power Project 132 KV sub-station to Jamnipali, Churikhurd and Korba sub-station, an island sub-system was made. A black out in hydel and thermal project was created, then restoration process was triggered by the engineers.
Diesel generator set was used to restore service of Bango project to charge the 132 KV sub-station then passing through the created island the 20MW load of hydel power station was taken and within 20 minutes power was restored, the engineers informed.
Western Regional Grid comprises Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. In case of any power failure from power plants, it would affect the power supply in these states. In year 2012, on July 30-31 the Northern and Eastern Grid black-out affected power supply of 21 states but Western Grid remained operational.
