Polling was held peacefully in the Bhilai-Charoda and Sarangarh municipal corporations to elect mayors and corporators on Tuesday.
The results of polling would be declared on December 30.
As mentioned earlier, the poll assumes huge significance for the BJP to register a win to silence the Opposition attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation move and display popular mood of the voters' preference for the saffron party despite demonetisation move of the Centre.
Notably, BJP’s Chandrakanta Mandle and Congress party’s Jyoti Banjare contested for the Mayoral posts for the Bhilai-Charoda municipal corporation.
