Other Backward Class (OBC) people do not have high hopes from either the ruling party or the Opposition after the Assembly polls in the State.
“We will support the OBC candidates from whichever constituency they contest from,” said lalit Chandranahu, member of Other Backward Classes Union of Chhattisgarh, at a Press conference here on Saturday. He presented several demands of people from the OBCs.
The outfit had submitted their demands to the major political parties in the State months before election. “But our demands have not been incorporated in any of the election manifestos,” lamented Chandranahu.
The organisation’s major demands included 52 per cent reservation in all political parties and number of candidates contesting elections, 52 per cent reservation in all government, co-operative and private jobs, amendments in land acquisition laws that concern the OBCs in Bastar and Surguja.
Chandranahu said that OBCs form a large part of the State’s population and the political parties in Chhattisgarh have been neglecting them.
