Simultaneously, consistent efforts are being made to conserve, preserve and promote the authentic culture of Chhattisgarh. The radio talk was aired from all centers of Akashwani in the state, FM radio channels and regional news channels.

As Diwali falls on November 14, also the birth anniversary of ‘Chacha Nehru’, children asked the Chief Minister various questions about India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Baghel said when Nehru, after his education abroad, came in contact with Mahatma Gandhi. he began wearing khadi. Embracing his daughter’s act of plucking rose from the garden and putting it on his kurta, Nehri made rose the symbol of love and affection for children.

The Chief Minister said Nehru could have chosen to live his life as a rich lawyer but he joined politics at age 28 in 1917. He went to jail for the first time in 1922.  Between 1922 and 1945, he was jailed nine times, for minimum 12 days to maximum 1,041 days.

He spent nearly nine years of his life in British jails. Books written by him in imprisonment are counted among the finest literature of the world, Baghel said.

After Gandhi referred to him as his successor in politics, Nehru became the first Prime Minister of India and remained so till his death on May 27, 1964.

During this period, Nehru created institutions like IIT, AIIMS and IIM, Bhilai Steel Plant, ISRO and more, helping India to become self-dependent in various sectors.

The Chief Minister said a proposal to start Khelo India Center in Narayanpur district has been sent to the Central government. Necessary arrangements are being made for the Mallakhamba Academy.
