A joint effort will be made by Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), National Hyrdoelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) and Durg district administration to make the lifeline of Durg district, Sheonath river pollution free.
Durg Collector Ankit Anand on Tuesday held a review meeting where emphasis was laid on stopping dumping of solid waste in the river.
The meeting felt the need to set up solid waste disposal facility along with sewage treatment plant to prevent river pollution.
Pre-monsoon cleaning of drains within limits of the Municipal Corporation has started. Nets are fixed at the outlets to prevent release of waste into the river.
Collector pointed out that sewerage treatment plants will be installed in selected drainage system.
The plantation will be undertaken on the river banks.
